Art Academy Plovdiv
The Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Bulgaria, a long-time active member of the Association of European Conservatories, Musical Academies and Higher Education Schools, The Association of Balkan Universities the central European Initiative for Music in Higher Education, and since October 2022 an official partner of the New European Bauhaus initiative.
The academy has been established in 1964 and today all its diplomas are recognized worldwide.
What do we do?
Tradition and Modernity in the heart of Plovdiv - this is the slogan of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts - one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Bulgaria and the only Art Academy outside the capital of the country. In its education and creative work the Academy combines classical and contemporary, traditions and innovation, research and applied studies, creates opportunities for practical and creative approaches to art, science and academic knowledge. The Academy provides high-quality education in the fields of musical-theoretical and performing arts - classical, folklore and modern profile, visual and fine arts and design, and teaching pedagogy in arts.

The education in Arts and Culture is the fundamental base for having a vivid civic society, flowing democracy and upgrade based on ethical and aesthetic values existing through empathy and speaking both to the mind and the heart.
We recognize the right of everyone to participate in the cultural life of society, to enjoy arts, participate in scientific progress and benefit from its achievements. We believe and work within the principle that art should be accessible to everyone and that creativity must be given the space to be an active tool for enriching lives, and be a major driving force of society. We are open and embrace different ideas, different art forms and different communities and want to be the change we crave.
Key activities
The Academy trains bachelor, MA and PhD students in the fields of fine arts - applied art and photography, music - folklore and classical music, choreography - folk and classical dances, pedagogy, stage design, PR and project and art management. We work with more than 30 partner universities and institutions within our Erasmus+ activities and manage to have exchange collaborations. The Academy hosts also a Career Development for Masters and PhD Students as part of the EC New Era Initiative.
The Academy hosts the annual 'International festival for Chamber Music', the 'Made at the Academy' festival and has been part of the full scale and is now part of the legacy programme of Plovdiv 2019 - European Capital of Culture.
The Academy has representative Academic - Folk Choir, Mixed Choir, Opera Theatre, Chamber Orchestra, Folk Orchestra, Folklore Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, and Instrumental Trio.
The Academy has folk choir and orchestra and a dance ensemble where students of the relevant specialties practice their performance, conducting and dancing skills.
The Academy initiated the only in Bulgaria consortium ART & EDUCATION which comprises the art and education institutions from Plovdiv and the region and the Cultural Department of Plovdiv Municipality.

PEDAGOGY OF MUSIC TRAINING
Three operating departments - Music Pedagogy and Conducting; Piano and Accordion; Classical and Pop and Jazz Performing Arts.
BAs in Pedagogy of Music Education, Performing Arts - classical instrument or classical singing, and Performing Arts - Pop and Jazz instruments and singing... MAs same plus Conducting, Composition, Musicology, Sound Editing, Music Therapy etc. PhDs in Music and Dance Art and Pedagogy of Music Education.
MUSIC FOLKLORE AND CHOREOGRAPHY
Three operating departments - Music Folklore; Choreography; Theory of Arts.
BAs in Performing Arts, Bulgarian National Choreography, Ballet... MAs in Performing Arts, Conducting Folk Groups, Ballet and Contemporary Dance Techniques, ART Management and PR of Art Organizations. Art Animation in Tourism etc. PhDs in Music and Dance Art
FINE ARTS
Three operating departments - Fine Arts, Applied Arts and Design.

DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGE AND SPECIAL EDUCATION
The department unites and guides the forms for preparation, acquisition of additional and postgraduate qualifications and specializations in the Academy, as well as training for the improvement of the qualification of the pedagogical specialties from school education.
There are courses for specialized training in the filed of arts and language training for Bulgarian and foreign citizens.
The premises of the Academy are attractive not only with their unique architectural features but also with their good facilities to meet the needs of the curriculum and the contemporary requirements for education. The Academy has more 6 buildings and a large concert hall, exhibition spaces, professional art and printing studios, a specialized academic library, recording and video studios and rehearsal and fitness grounds.
From October 2022, the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts "Prof. Asen Diamandiev" - Plovdiv has been selected as an official partner of the EU initiative - New European Bauhaus.
