14th International Scientific Conference “Management and Marketing Problems in Art”

Building on the tradition of its previous editions, the conference has established itself as a platform for academic and professional dialogue on contemporary theoretical and practical issues related to the management of arts and cultural organisations. This year’s edition will once again highlight the increasingly important relationship between art, entrepreneurship and business.

The conference will bring together academics, lecturers, doctoral students, researchers, managers, representatives of cultural organisations and professionals from the cultural and creative sectors, providing an opportunity to exchange research findings, professional experience and innovative ideas.

The organisers welcome scientific papers and presentations with theoretical, methodological or practical perspectives in the following areas:

• strategic management of arts organisations;
• motivation and human resource management;
• marketing and public relations in cultural institutions;
• communication and promotion of the arts;
• arts entrepreneurship;
• cooperation with educational institutions.

We look forward to welcoming participants from Bulgaria and abroad for another inspiring exchange at the intersection of research, art and management, and for a shared discussion of ideas, experience and solutions supporting the sustainable development of the cultural and creative sectors.

A night of science, art and discovery, organised together by the Centre for Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology and the ‘Prof. Asen Diamandiev’ Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts.

The Centre for Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) is, for yet another year, a partner in the European Researchers’ Night as part of the ‘Researchers in the Triangle of Knowledge’ project – K-TRIO.

The K-TRIO project follows the main priorities of the European MSCA & Citizens action, which aims to bring scientific research and researchers closer to society. Its key objectives include raising awareness of research and innovation activities, strengthening public recognition of science and science education, and presenting more clearly the role of researchers in the development of the economy and society.

Particular emphasis is placed on the impact of scientific achievements on people’s everyday lives and on encouraging young people’s interest in science and research careers. The project is also aligned with the “Researchers in Schools” initiative, which aims to strengthen the link between research and education and to provide pupils with the opportunity to meet researchers directly and learn about contemporary scientific achievements.

Social Innovation

Another priority of the organisers this year is social innovation and creating opportunities for scientists, the general public and artists to consider creating social innovations or partnering with existing initiatives. Special guests at the Researchers’ Night are colleagues and partners from the Regional Center for Social Economy and Social Innovation, Plovdiv. They made possible this meeting with people with special needs who are proactive and enterprising and who will be our guests – Dilyan Manolov – “Photography Without Sight”, and Petar Neftilimov, who, through his popular brand “Flower in a Test Tube”, will tell us what a successful company and a human cell have in common.

Investing in Young Talent and a Culture of Innovation

The long-term strategic objectives of K-TRIO are related to building a sustainable scientific and innovation culture. The project encourages young talents’ interest in STEAM fields – science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, as well as in opportunities for professional development in the research sector.

Other key priorities include the development of creative and critical thinking, scientific curiosity and an innovative spirit, as well as fostering a responsible attitude towards environmental protection. An important part of the initiatives is also increasing society’s readiness to actively participate in activities related to citizen science, open science and open innovation.

Science as a Driver of European Transformation

The project consortium, of which the Center for Plant System Biology and Biotechnology is a part, places particular emphasis on the importance of the European Research Area (ERA) and the European Education Area (EEA).

Through the preliminary initiatives and events held as part of the European Researchers’ Night, their interconnectedness and contribution to Europe’s twin – green and digital – transition are presented, as well as their contribution to the development of a knowledge-based economy and society.

Through its participation in K-TRIO, CPSBB continues its consistent work to build closer links between science, education, art, innovation and society, turning scientific knowledge into an accessible and shared value for people of different generations.

On 25 June 2026, Prof. Dr. Vesela Kazashka, Director of the Technology Transfer Center at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts "Prof. Asen Diamandiev" – Plovdiv and lecturer in Inclusive Education, participated in the round table discussion "Educational Profiles and Active Learning."

The event was held at Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv and was organized by the Faculty of Education in partnership with the Institute of Education at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The round table was organized within the framework of the National Research Programme "Development of Research and Innovation in the Bulgarian Preschool and School Education System," bringing together researchers, university lecturers, and education professionals to discuss contemporary approaches to teaching and learning.

During her presentation, Prof. Kazashka highlighted the importance of digital creativity and artistic intelligence as essential competencies in shaping the educational profile of today's learners. She presented these competencies as a practical example of active learning, where students move beyond the role of passive recipients of knowledge to become creators, experimenters, and innovators who express ideas through the creative use of digital technologies.

According to Prof. Kazashka, the integration of arts, digital technologies, and inclusive educational approaches creates meaningful learning environments that foster personal development, creativity, independence, and the active participation of every learner. She emphasized that interdisciplinary educational models are becoming increasingly important in preparing students for the challenges of the digital age while supporting equal opportunities and inclusive participation in education.

The participation of the Technology Transfer Center at AMDFA in the forum reflects its commitment to promoting innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the transfer of knowledge and good practices between higher education, research, and the school education system.

The Beautiful Science Foundation is now accepting proposals for events to be included in the programme of the Plovdiv Science Festival, taking place from 22 to 25 October 2026.

Scientists, researchers, academics, PhD students, and professionals are invited to present their research projects, discoveries, innovations, and ideas to a broad audience through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, workshops, interactive formats, and events exploring the intersection of science and the arts.

The festival welcomes content designed for diverse audiences – from children and school students to families and adult visitors. Key thematic areas include climate, health, space, technology, artificial intelligence, and science & art.

Through this significant partnership, two leading institutions in the fields of art and science declare their shared commitment to the development of interdisciplinary dialogue and joint initiatives. The document was signed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhan Pehlivanov, Rector of the Prof. Asen Diamandiev Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, and Prof. Dr. Tsanko Gechev, Director of the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology – Plovdiv. The mediator of this cooperation is Prof. Dr. Vesela Kazashka.

The fruitful interaction between the two institutions will contribute to the support of young talents, to the promotion of culture, art, and science through joint projects, as well as to the strengthening of Plovdiv’s position as a scientific and cultural center of international significance.

The event brought together chapter authors, members of the Core Group (CG), and the Management Committee. The programme included parallel sessions on the chapters of the forthcoming book, a plenary discussion on the main thematic strands and next steps, as well as a meeting of the Management Committee.

Prof. Vesela Kazashka actively participated in the working meeting in Lisbon in her capacity as a member of the CA22156 Management Committee. In this role, she contributed to discussions on the conceptual framework of the volume, possible formats for presenting the results (including publishable datasets, visualisations, and short thematic formats), and the strategic directions for the further development of the initiative.

The Lisbon meeting reaffirmed the international network’s commitment to researching transformative processes in resource-constrained contexts and to developing practically applicable knowledge based on empirical data and interdisciplinary dialogue.

On 4–5 December 2025, a Regional Forum entitled “Knowledge and Technology Transfer and Factors for the Integrated Development of the Northwestern Region” was held in the city of Pleven. The Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” participated in the event through its Technology Transfer Office (TTO).

The forum was attended by Mr. Nikolay Paunov, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, and Ms. Ralitsa Bazaitova, Senior Expert at the Directorate “Performing Arts and Arts Education.”

Prof. Vesela Kazashka presented opportunities for cooperation between AMTII and other cultural institutions in the region. She emphasised the potential for joint project activities, the creation of a talent incubator in collaboration with the National School of Arts “Panayot Pipkov”, as well as broader interaction in the fields of arts and culture.

Mr. Rumen Todorov, Director of “Panayot Pipkov” school, presented the project “Regional Arts Academy,” which received AMDFA’s support during its application process. The project aims to develop the regional cultural and educational infrastructure, highlighting innovations in education and cooperation among various educational and cultural institutions.

During the forum, the following opportunities for future collaboration between AMTII and institutions from the Northwestern Region were discussed:

• support for introducing innovations in the arts;

• joint project development;

• organization of scholarly and creative events;

• conducting masterclasses;

• preparation of a business plan and a strategy for long-term cooperation.

The forum laid the groundwork for future interaction and the integration of various cultural and educational initiatives with the aim of developing the Northwestern Region through joint efforts in the fields of arts and culture.

The aim of the meeting is to bring together researchers and artists from all over Europe to share ideas, develop joint projects and explore the possibilities of collective intelligence within the framework of artistic practices and scientific research. During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetomira Kazashka from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts – Plovdiv presented a report on the topic: «Collective Intelligence at the Intersection of Art, AI, and Cultural Innovation», which aroused interest and provoked a discussion on the role of artificial intelligence and cultural practices in building new forms of creativity and collaboration. The Rector of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhan Pehlivanov, and the Director of the Technology Transfer Office - Prof. Dr. Vessela Kazashka also took part in the discussions. COST is a European organization for funding research and innovation networks, which promotes inter-institutional cooperation and the sustainable development of creative and scientific communities. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhan Pehlivanov, Prof. Dr. Vessela Kazashka and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tsvetomira Kazashka participated and exchanged experiences with colleagues from ABOROMA during the European Night of Scientists in Rome - The Enacting Artistic Research project (EAR). The program was full of events for young and old, and the artistic community offered and promoted the connection between new digital technologies and art. AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev" has over 15 years of experience as a partner in organizing the European Night of Scientists in the city of Plovdiv.

The visit also provided an opportunity for direct participation and familiarization with the activities of the G.I.O.I.A foundation, which supports people with mental disabilities by creating a social environment, work and opportunities for inclusion. G.I.O.I.A., which stands for “Youth”, “Engagement”, “Employment”, “Inclusion” and “Welcome”, is the name of the project launched by the Embassy of the Order of Malta to the Holy See, in collaboration with the Grand Priory of Rome of the Order of Malta and the social cooperative Diversa Arte, to support 10-12 young people in a three-year inclusion and vocational training program. Prof. Dr. Vessela Kazashka is a core lecturer in inclusive education at the AMTII “Prof. Assen Diamandiev”.
